There is no denying that the Volkswagen Scirocco is one of the leading 3 door coupes in the world, and it has a long lineage that stretches back to 1974 making it what many would term a modern classic. The version that we supply car covers for in this particular section of our website is the brand new third generation (if one can call it that) of the Scirocco. This all new version has been redesigned from the ground up to meet the needs of the modern motorist, and it entered a marketplace full of competition from both within and without the Volvo stable (with many wondering why the Scirocco was released when a similar sized vehicle already existed in the Polo).

Despite many misgivings the Scirocco was launched to critical acclaim and it has met with excellent reviews from across the board, with motoring journalists being particularly fond of it and the vehicle selling well from the moment it was released. This new Volkswagen Scirocco was assembled at the AutoEuropa plant in Portugal and is then shipped to varying destination countries. The Scirocco shares many similarities with the Golf, in fact it is based on the PQ35 platform that the fifth version of the Golf actually uses. One of the things that many have praised Volkswagen for is the five star safety rating on the Scirocco, with it scoring especially high with regards to the safety of adult and child occupants.

The standard 2008 version of the new Scirocco has been evolved into a new version called the "R". The R model has been developed by Volkswagen to a more sporting set of criteria, and it boasts a new 2.0 litre engine that develops 261 bhp at 6,000 rpm. It features many spectacular styling choices that have been praised as bold an innovative such as the large air intakes on the front bumper, a new front spoiler/splitter, bi-xenon lighting, a new black diffuser, a sporty dual exhaust, 18-inch alloys and a large rear edge roof spoiler. The Scirocco has done Volkswagen proud on the motorsport circuit with three of them competing in the prestigious 24 Hours at Nurburgring and from a field of over 200 vehicles finishing 11th and 15th. A Volkswagen Scirocco is also driven by Biogas team in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.
