In 1988, TVR released The Wedge, a two door sports car that was developed from the 420 SEAC. Production ended in 1989 with only 17 cars ever being produced. One factor in this is the cost of the car. The Wedge was developed from the TVR 420 SEAC, a cutting edge machine that used both Kevlar and fibreglass in the construction of its body. These were both used for the body of the Wedge, meaning an increase in sales price. Also known as the 450 SEAC, the car also used the same tubular chassis as the 420 SEAC. The TVR Wedge did not share the same engine however, and a 4.5 litre Rover V8 was used to power the car. This engine gave the TVR a top speed of 175 miles per hour and an acceleration of 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds. All of this was thanks to the massive 325 brake horse power from this we developed engine.
