 2002 saw the release of the TVR Tamora, a two seat, two door coupe. The Tamora was released following the Chimaera and the Griffith, filling the gap left by these two highly popular cars. The simple, elegant styling of the Tamora has attracted lots of interest. The design is slightly more conservative than previous TVR models, meaning that a wider audience as come to appreciate it. Several elements were also similar in design, such as the stowable hard-top similar to the previous models. the discrete lights on both the front and rear were also designed to make much less of a statement that other TVR models, adding to the simple clean lines of this design.
Like most modern TVR cars, the Tamora is powered by the TVR Speed Six, Straight-6 engine. The 3.6 litre powerplant provides a remarkable 350 brake horse power thanks to such a remarkably lightweight design, weighing just 1060 kg. The Tamora boasts a top speed of over 170 mph, with an acceleration of 0-60 mph in only 4.2 seconds. The success of this model led to the development of the T350 coupe, which uses a similar body and chassis design.
As with most TVR models, the Tamora is well designed both inside and out. With leather trimmed bucket style racing seats, a multifunction digital display and intuitive instrument layout, the car is a dream to drive mechanically and by means of comfort. The TVR Tamora is certainly a success for both British engineering and design.
