The TVR Chimaera is a unique two seats sports car that was in production between the years of 1992 and 2003. Like it's namesake from Greek mythology the TVR Chimaera was made up of parts from various other vehicles including the chassis of the Griffith and a V8 engine from Rover, along with various other things taken either off the shelf or from existing cars. The TVR Chimaera was designed from the outset as the companies grand tourer vehicle and as such it featured a longer body resulting in more interior space, and the suspension was also relaxed slightly making it more comfortable for long journeys.
Despite this the TVR Chimaera was still a very tactile vehicle to drive and still capable of racing, and the front and rear disk brakes ensured that any driver could stop in a hurry if they so required. As a touring vehicle the TVR Chimaera featured a number of optional extras such as power assisted steering (not normally found on TVR's) along with air conditioning, rear speakers, a CD auto-changed and fully heated seats. Of course other fixtures and fittings on the Chimaera were just as luxurious as many other TVR vehicles of the time so full leather seats and interior were coupled with a stunning wooden chromed steering wheel and high quality woollen carpets.
