The Porsche Boxster is one of the most enduring sights on the roads of the world, it is a true classic vehicle that evokes the spirit of everything that is recognisable as belonging to the Porsche brand. It would be a mistake to describe the Porsche Boxster as a simple mid-engined roadster, it is in fact THE premier mid-engined roadster currently in production and it has been a best seller since it was first launched in the mid 1990's. The 2.5 litre flat six engine produces ample power for the vehicle whilst still making it an economical choice for the vast majority of motorists, and there are choices of other engine sizes up to 3.2 litre for those that require more power.

The Boxster name comes from a portmanteau of "boxer" and "roadster", the former being the horizontally opposed type of engine used in the vehicle and the latter being a small two seat vehicle with a soft top. To date there have been two different versions of the Boxster, the 986 and the 987, and throughout their lives both of these marks have been upgraded and improved to produce some of the finest vehicles money can buy. A third generation is currently in development (at the time of writing in 2012) and will be released soon, this will be known as the Boxster 981 and we have no doubt that it will be just as popular as the 986 and 987.

The Porsche Boxster has taken part in a number of different racing championships, in fact in the UK they compete in the Porsche Championship series and they also regularly compete in the street tuned class for the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. The National Auto Sport Association also run a classic Boxster spec racing series open to 2.5 litre models produced between 1997 and 1999. There has also been a sportier Spyder version of the Porsche Boxster produced, this is the lightest vehicle produced by Porsche on the market and it is stripped down for extra performance.
