The Porsche 996 is yet another stunning unique model of the infamous Porsche 911 which was produced between 1998 and 2005. The 996 boasts many significant changes in the history in the production of this version of the Porsche Carrera, including features such as a fully water-cooled engine. This was seen as quite an innovation by Porsche the reliability of water-cooled engines had been called into question. It proved a successful decision however and the reduction in noise and improved performance of the Porsche 996 made this a profitable change. Many fans approach the 996 as a different car to previous Carrera models due to the change in engine cooling.
Available as both a cabriolet and a coupe, the Porsche 996 has attracted a wide range of interest from car fans around the world. Other options include a four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive variant, and two engine capacities of 3.4 and 3.6 litres. The 996 3.4 variant produced an impressive 300 break horse power; with the 3.6 litre twin turbocharged throwing out 415 bhp.
A stunning special edition of the 996 was produced in 2000, naming the car ‘The 911 for the Millennium’. With Violet Chromaflair paint and a natural leather and dark burr maple interior offered exquisite styling. This special edition Porsche is easily identifiable from limited edition number plates located on the centre console, lettering on the door sills and a unique 911 badge on the engine lid. The limited edition Porsche 996 also offered the option of a six-speed manual gearbox or the Tiptronic automatic gearbox.
