Porsche 964 Waterproof Half Cover

The Porsche 964 is actually the companies internal name for a unique version of the 911 that was sold between the years of 1989 and 1993. The Porsche 964 is set aside from other versions of the 911 thanks to a number of changes to the style and aesthetic of the vehicle, particularly the integrated bumpers. The Porsche 964 was also the first 911 that was available with a version of the companies Tiptronic automatic transmission.
The 964 was also the first generation of Porsche 911 that was available with four wheel drive. The Porsche 964 itself was actually simply badged as either a Carrera 2 or Carrera 4, however since the model was discontinued many use the 964 moniker to distinguish this car from various other generations of the Porsche Carrera, particularly amongst collectors and enthusiasts. The first type of Porsche 964 that was available were the AWD Carrera 4 versions, and in 1990 Porsche took the step to introduce the rear wheel drive Carrera 2 version of the 964.
All different variants were available in a choice of styles so owners could choose to purchase either the coupe, targa or cabriolet. The Porsche 964 is much loved by collectors and enthusiasts because it was the last generation of car from the company that was sold with what is commonly referred to as the "pop top" targa roof that was eventually replaced with the glass roof system of the 993. Later versions of the Porsche 964 featured a naturally aspirated M64 engine with a 3.6 L capacity, along with improved stiffer suspension with the rear torsion bars being replaced with coil springs and shock absorbers. In 1994 Porsche opted to develop a lightweight rear wheel drive of the 964 that they dubbed the Carrera RS in Europe.
One of the appeals of this version was its sleek racing lines and stripped out interior to save weight, that was devoid of sound dampening, air conditioning, a stereo system and cruise control. This particular model sold incredibly well in Europe and the UK and is still much loved by various collectors across the world. A turbo version of the Porsche 964 was released in 1990, and in 1993 Porsche developed a highly tuned version of the 964 known as the Turbo S LM-GT designed just for motorsports. The line also featured a soft top Speedster version produced in 1992 and and a new Roadster released in 1993 just for the US market.
