Porsche 944 Lightweight Breathable Car Cover
The Porsche 944 was again a popular entry-level model that demonstrated superb Porsche engineering and made it more widely available to customers. The 944 was produced between 1982 and 1991 and originally intended to take over from the 924, although the production of this continued up until 1988. The 944 was very well received as it was launched, thanks to fantastic handling. Originally it was produced with an Audi 2 litre engine, however several problems arose form this and Porsche took teh decision to replace this with a turbocharged engine from the Porsche 924. This certainly improved performance dramatically in the 944 but also led to an increase in price.
The Porsche 944 performed excellently on the 2.5 litre engine and was popular due to its performance and also excellent fuel efficiency. 1985 saw what was to being a series of upgrades that included new interior panels, upgrading components such as the alternator and oil sump, larger wheels and increased capacity fuel tank, new stereo system. Porsche also developed an option for the 944 that included heated or powered seats. By 1987 the engine of the 944 could also be upgraded with the option of a 2.7 litre with increased torque greatly and improved the horsepower offered by the system.
The design of the Porsche 944 offered a range of options in styling to the consumer. These included both a coupe and cabriolet version. Many more options where planned but due to the amount of time that had passed and the desire to introduce a newer model of the car, Porsche decided to develop these changes into the 968 instead. The 944 became a top seller for the company and proved a great commercial success.
