Mazda Capella Lightweight Breathable Car Covers
The Mazda Capella was a popular car that was developed by Mazda and sold under a large variety of different names in other markets, although enthusiasts and industry specialists always refer to the vehicle as simply the Capella to avoid confusion with other vehicles. The Mazda Capella sat neatly in between the small Familia and the large Luce, it was a mid sized car that was popular with families and those looking for an affordable vehicle. The Mazda Capella was also sold on by Ford as a "Telstar" for some time, and it was a major design inspiration for the Lantis, Cronos, MX-6 and Persona. It also has the honour of being one of the longest serving Mazdas having survived from 1970 through until 2002 in various guises.
The Mazda Capella was eventually replaced by the Atenza after many years of loyal service. The first model of Capella was developed by Mazda in the late 1960's and was offered for sale in 1970; for four years it sold well thanks to its reliable 1.6 litre engine (or with a rotary version which resulted in some of the vehicles being re-named the RX-2). By 1974 the vehicle was selling so well that Mazda found they could justify a major re-design of the exterior along with the inclusion of many new technologies. This re-design influenced the second generation Capella that was first launched in 1978 and ran through until 1982. This new version of the Mazda Capella was rear wheel drive and to drivers in the UK may be more recognisable if we refer to it as the Montrose. This was replaced in '83 by the third generation Capella, a front wheel drive Mazda designed around the GC platform that was also sold as the Telstar. Three more generations of Capella followed, but by far the most recognisable from motorists and Mazda enthusiasts alike is the supercharged 2.0 litre disel version. The fifth generation version proved less popular and it only sold for three years before the name was taken and used on a different vehicle. The final version of the Mazda Capella was the GF platform based sixth revision that came with a four wheel drive option and sold well across global export markets.
