Mazda Capella Heavy Duty Waterproof Car Covers

mazdacapella1.jpgThe Capella is a vehicle produced by Mazda and sold under a variety of other names in various markets across the globe. The Mazda Capella is a mid-sized vehicle that is larger than the popular Familia but smaller than the Luce or 929. The popular Ford Telstar is actually a rebadged version of the Mazda Capella, and the vehicle is very closely related to the Lantis, Cronos, Persona and MX-6. From 1970 the Mazda Capella proved very popular and it survived until 2002 when it was finally replaced by the Atenza. The first model of Mazda Capella was introduced in 1970 and ran for four years; it was powered by a 1.6 litre 4 cylinder engine that could output 104 horsepower. It was marketed as the 616 abroad in many instances, and when fitted with a rotary engine it became the RX-2.

In 1974 Mazda decided to give the Capella a major face lift and overhaul. It was eventually replaced by a second generation Mazda Capella that was produced between the years of 1978 and 1982 as both a coupe and sedan. Notable it was a rear wheel drive vehicle that was sold as the 626 in various markets or the Montrose in the UK. The 1983 third generation Mazda Capella was a front wheel drive car based on the GC platform. It continued the 626 name for foreign markets and it was also rebadged as the Ford Telstar. Due to popular demand Mazda introduced a 5 door hatchback version of the car. 1987 saw the introduction of the fourth generation Capella based around the GC platform. It continued through until 1996 and a hatchback version was introduced in 1989.

This was the first version of the vehicle to feature a 2.0 litre diesel engine that utilised a supercharger. The penultimate version of the popular Mazda Capella was the 1994 fifth generation version that was designed around the CG platform initially destined for the Lantis. It proved to be less than popular and was only produced for three years with the name being used for the G platform after 1996. The final version of the Mazda Capella appeared in 1997 built on the GF platform; it was available with a four wheel drive option when imported into many markets. The station wagon version was offered for sale with a powerful V6 engine and a longer wheelbase. The final version proved popular and was updated by Mazda in 1999; the Capella received new stylings along with a brand new automatic gearbox and turbo-diesel engine. In 2002 the vehicle was finally retired to make way for the Atenza.
