Mazda Atenza Waterproof Half Covers
The Mazda Atenza was developed and produced in the early parts of the 2000's and it has been offered for sale since 2002. The Atenza name was only actually used by Mazda when the vehicle was sold in Japan, in various other countries it was sold simply as the "6", but it has since become colloquially known as the Atenza worldwide to avoid confusion with other vehicles. Mazda designed the Atenza to replace the ever popular Capella and it fulfilled this brief perfectly and the car has sold very well; in fact over a million Mazda Atenza's have been sold so far. The Mazda Atenza is recognised by many as the vehicle that helped the company forge a new direction and change their identity and image to a mass market. In fact many say that the Mazda Atenza sparked a whole new design philosophy that spawned the 2, 3, 5, MX-5, CX-7 and RX-7.
Mazda decided to take the Atenza racing and the vehicle has proved especially popular as a sporty racer. The SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge Touring Car Series is one competition that Mazda entered the Atenza in and it helped raise awareness of the company after the vehicle took first place. The Atenza has been modified a number of times throughout its life; initially a four door sedan and five door hatchback version was offered with a choice of engine capacities and automatic or manual transmission. From a large powerful 3.0 litre V6 through to a standard low capacity four cylinder model; the choice is left to the buyer to customise their vehicle when purchasing.
The Mazda Atenza is based around the CD3 platform. This platform was designed just for the Mazda Atenza and it has gone on to serve as the design impetus for a number of other cars including vehicles from other companies such as Ford. In 2005 the Mazda Atenza was modified in order to bring the model up to date so it can compete with vehicles from other companies in the latter half of the new millenium. In 2007 Mazda took this one step further by introducing a whole new generation of the Atenza with a wide choice of engines and optional extras. The new vehicle has earned excellent reviews and it now competes directly with the ever popular Ford Mondeo.
