Mazda 929 Heavy Duty Waterproof Car Covers

mazda9291.jpgThe Mazda 929 (sometimes also known as the Efini MS-9) was a popular vehicle sold by Mazda from the early 1970's right through to the 1990's, and for three decades the 929 proved to be very popular with motorists the world over. Initially the Mazda 929 was developed as a mid-sized family vehicle but it was later redesigned as a full sized vehicle, and later in its life it shared a chassis with the popular Mazda Luce. The original model 929 was introduced in 1973 to actually replace the Luce. It was powered by a suitable 1.8 litre 1800 engine that produced 83 horsepower and it was available as a coupe, sedan and also a large station wagon.

1975 saw the Mazda 929 updated with a larger 103 horsepower 2.0 litre engine. Alternatively customers could opt to utilise a 127 horsepower 13B rotary engine, an option that proved to be only moderately popular with many unsure of the rotary engine itself. 1980 saw the addition of a 2.2 litre diesel engine being added to the many options available for the Mazda 929. 1981 then saw a brand new generation of Mazda 929 launched as an export version of the popular Luce. This larger vehicle featured rear wheel drive and was available as either sedan or estate models. Sadly both the turbo version of the Mazda 929 and the saloon were never offered for sale in Europe although some people chose to import the vehicle from Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

In 1986 Mazda opted to update the 929 with a large V6 3 litre engine that continued to be produced until 1991 with the obligatory one year gap behind the Japanese market. The large engine of the vehicle and affordable price marked the Mazda 929 as something of a market leader; particularly in the US after the Fifth Avenue and Dodge Diplomat vehicles were dropped by Chrysler. There were a number of different variations of the Mazda 929 available for purchase, from the pillared four door sedan through to the pillar-less four door hardtop that featured more interior space.

A standard 3.0 litre V6 engine was offered as an option between the years of 1986 and 1989 on the Mazda 929, and in 1990 Mazda released a higher spec version of the 929 that featured 24 valves that increased fuel economy and also helped with reliability. More modern technology was also added in the shape of anti-locking brakes, ventilated disc brakes and various styling changes for better aerodynamics. Mazda stopped exporting the 929 to various locations across the globe in 1995 and it holds a place in history as the last mainstream rear wheel drive sedan with V6 power right through until 2005. Eventually the Mazda 929 was replaced by the Millenia as their flagship affordable sedan.
