Lotus Exige Waterproof Half Covers
The Lotus Exige was launched in 2000 as a coupe version of the ever popular Lotus Elise. This two door, two-seat coupe boasts a 1.8l Rover K series engine that will produce up to 192 bhp when tuned for the track. Improvements came in 2004 with the inclusion of a 1.8 litre 16-valve DOHC Toyota/Yamaha engine that produces 190 bhp. Some modifications were made to the Lotus Exige to increase the downforce of the car by increasing the aerodynamic, such as a front splitter, fibreglass hard top with roof scoop, rear engine cover and a rear spoiler. This gave an impressive 45kg of downforce at 100mph compared to the equivalent Elise that produced only 5.9kg of downforce at the same speed.
A limited edition of the Lotus Exige was produced in 2005 with the Toyota engine and a supercharger to increase the power to an impressive 243 bhp. These were available in only black or yellow and only 50 of this model were released. A top speed of 155mph is possible in this edition with an acceleration of 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
Recent developments from Lotus include the Exige S 240. This sports car features a larger roof scoop, improved acceleration and an engine offering up to 240 bhp. TheLotus Exige S 240 was released by Lotus in 2008 and will shortly be followed in 2009 with the Exige S. This is to be released in the US and is a continuation of the 2008 model.
