Ford ProbeThe Ford Probe as we know it today originally started life as a string of prototypes that were designed and inspired with futuristic sci-fi themes in mind as a join project between Ford and Ghia. The Probe I (and the following II, III, IV and V) were all very different and unique prototype vehicles that fused the latest technologies within a genuinely awe-inspiring and unique body in an effort to push forward the boundaries of automotive manufacturing. When the actual Probe entered production Ford worked hard to ensure that it was always as up to date and futuristic as possible and with each different iteration of the vehicle it has always remained true to the original design proposals and as a result is a genuinely unique car with no direct revival. Initially it was expected that it would sell like the Mustang however many people did not find the sci-fi looks of the vehicle appealing so it was always outsold by it's pony car cousin.

The MkI Ford Probe was released to the public after years of development work and redesigns in 1988 and sold well until 1992. It drew it's inspiration straight from the Probe concept cars that had been produced to show off new design techniques by Ford and Ghia. This new Probe was a result of a fusion of ideas and concepts from both Ford and Mazda under a new alliance that also resulted in the birth of the MX-6. The Ford Probe was powered by a 2.2 litre Mazda F2 engine that may seem low on power but it proved adequate considering how light and nimble the vehicle actually is. As with most Ford vehicles the Probe came with various different trim options to suit all different kinds of customers and unlike many other vehicles the Ford Probe was kept constantly up to date by a team of dedicated engineers who constantly ensured that the vehicle met its original design goals.

The MkII version of the Ford Probe was released in 1992 as a 1993 model and although it was initially only available with two trim levels more were added later in the vehicles life. The "cockpit" of the new Ford Probe was crammed full of some of the latest technologies and design innovations to be used in any vehicle, and it was mated to a futuristic chassis and sturdy, reliable engine that provided ample power. Various gearboxes were available for the customer to choose from including a full five speed manual and various automatic options. The later trim revisions that Ford introduced for the Probe include the "feature" that included comfortable bucket seats, the same fit as the GT, new paint options and luxury floor mats, and the "sports" version including a new body kit and 15" alloys. Ford also introduced the GTS Probe that featured a brand new body kit compared to the standard GT along with chrome wheels, standard spoiler and new exterior trim around the lights and reflectors.
