Ford Ka Heavy Duty Waterproof Car Covers
The Ford Ka is a city car (a classification just beneath supermini) sold in various regions across the globe. It has been a popular selling vehicle since it was first released in 1996 and has gained a particularly large following in the United Kingdom where it was the best selling car in the city car class for a number of years. Throughout its life the Ford Ka was constantly upgraded with better levels of trim and fittings and when new technologies became available they were incorporated, power steering for instance was added to the basic model of Ford Ka after twelve months in production. Various versions of the Ford Ka were produced such as the LuxuryKa and SportKa, all of which featured a different design emphasis in order to appeal to a different demographic. The Ford Ka has proven to be a popular, durable vehicle with a firm following even though some reviews were not particularly praiseworthy with some critics arguing that for a similar price a larger supermini class vehicle could be purchased for a similar price that would be more spacious inside, faster, and even in certain cases more fuel efficient. Despite this the Ford Ka has carved a niche for itself in various markets across the globe with many people citing the vehicles unique styling and small form factor as a reason for purchasing
On September 11th 1996 the Ford Ka was first introduced as a budget addition to the Ford line-up at the time. The Ka shared the same platform as the Fiesta Mk III but the external design was completely different and in no way could the two cars be mistaken for one another. The advantage of this arrangement was that with minimal re-tooling the current Fiesta assembly line could be utilised to create the Ford Ka, lowering development costs significantly. When it was first released to the general public the appearance divided the public, with many praising it and an equal number stating that the vehicle really was not for them. As a drivers car the Ford Ka featured excellent grip and precisely tuned steering and suspension making it the best handling city car for many years. The first version of the Ford Ka was available with a tremendous amount of optional extras, everything from air conditioning, adjustable rear seats, passenger airbags, central locking, power windows, anti locking brakes and power steering were available as optional extras with some of these fittings being made standard as the vehicle progressed through its life.
In 2008 the Ford Ka was replaced with a brand new model developed from the ground up in association with Fiat utilising the same platform as the Fiat Panda. Ford have taken the opportunity to update the new Ford Ka with their "kinetic design" aesthetic while not changing the design so much that it is not recognisable immediately as a Ford Ka. The interior of the updated version is packed with new technologies such as Bluetooth, voice control, mp3 player compatibility, steering wheel controls and a high performance sound system. The choice of engines in the new Ford Ka is somewhat limited compared to previous offerings; at present only a 1.2 petrol and 1.3 turbo diesel are available although Ford plan to rectify this by adding the option of a 1.4 litre petrol engine in the future. The new Ka is also very safe thanks to new bumpers that are shock absorbing and an anti-roll bar. The new Ford Ka is also fitted with EPA (electronic power assisted) steering enabling it to be driven very easily and making the car feel even lighter. The vehicle has also featured in films as part of a marketing campaign, most notably in the James Bond film Quantum Of Solace.
