Ford FocusThe Ford Focus is one of the leading and most widely recognised modern Fords on the road in the 21st century. The Ford Focus was first unveiled as a direct replacement for the Ford Escort (and the Probe in Australia, New Zealand and Japan) in 1998 in Europe. It immediately sold so well that the Focus was then released in 2000 in North America, and in 2002 it was rolled out in Australia, such was its success. The first generation Ford Focus became something of a "must buy" car in many markets across the world and it is still manufactured in some areas alongside the newer, more up to date MkII version of the car. The MkII version featured new engineering and new stylings and is practically a whole new vehicle, however both first and second generation continue to sell well with over five million Focuses being sold worldwide.

The MkI first generation Ford Focus was originally intended to have a completely different name, however the Focus name was eventually adopted based on a Ghia concept that was exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show in 1991. The new Ford design was a fusion of new ideas and concepts, most of which had been tried in other vehicles before but none of which had been amalgamated together in such a grandiose way to produce a small family car. The MkI Ford Focus was designed with Ford's "New Edge" aesthetic in mind following on from the new Ka and other vehicles. One major feature than improved comfort and handling was the
fully independent multi-link rear suspension, this resulted in many excellent reviews for the vehicle when it was released as it represented the perfect blend of handling and comfort.

The second generation MkII Ford Focus was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and it aimed to continue the legacy that the first generation had started even though the two vehicles were in some ways quite different. Rather than just upgrading the old vehicle Ford decided to base the new Focus around the C1 platform and rebuild it from scratch, carrying over a few features such as the suspension, which remained unchanged. Handling is still improved on the new Ford Focus however thanks to a much stiffer body. The new Ford Focus is also substantially larger in every dimension than the older version and this allows for much more interior space. In keeping with the theme of modernity Ford had updated the interior of the new Focus complete with climate control and a solar reflective windscreen, and all versions now come with Bluetooth compatibility.
