Ford C-Max Waterproof Half Cover
 In 2003 Ford launched the C-Max, a unique new MPV (multi purpose vehicle) that was designed to be sold and marketed solely in Europe. The C-Max is the leading vehicle in a new breed of MPV's from Ford and a number of other companies, this "compact MPV" challenges our preconceptions about vehicle design by presenting to us a normal externally sized car packed with space on the inside. The C-Max was the first car based on the Ford C1 platform that was also used on the new Focus and by Mazda on their 5. The C-Max is also the smallest MPV developed by Ford; it sits beneath both the S-Max and Galaxy in terms of size.
In 2006 Ford launched a new version of the C-Max at the Bologna Motor Show. When it was released to the general public for purchase in 2007 many praised the new design that was based around what Ford call "Kinetic Design". They do point out though that the C-Max is not a "Kinetic Design" car, rather elements of this unique design style have been incorporated into the older vehicle to bring it up to date and more in line with other Ford products. As you might expect the Ford C-Max will very comfortably seat five passengers and if more cargo space is required the rear seats will fold flat thanks to an inventive, easy to use mechanism.
Some versions of the vehicle also feature rear seats that are designed to slide diagonally to the rear, this increases access to the rear of the vehicle. Since the C-Max was originally launched by Ford as a sub-class of the popular Focus (eventually the C-Max became a vehicle in its own right) engine sizes, gearboxes, fixtures and fittings and various other things are taken straight from the Focus by Ford and utilised in the new car. The vehicle is available in a choice of 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 litre engines in both petrol and diesel and there is also a bio-fuel version of the 1.8 litre engine available. The control blade independent rear suspension is also taken from the Focus.
