The Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS series of vehicles were eventually replaced by the popular 328, and the design lineage between the two vehicles was obvious. The 328 differed from the 308 in that a number of modifications had been made both to the external stylings and engine, however the two vehicles from Ferrari are remarkably similar. The Ferrari 328 is now much sought after by collectors as it was considered by many to be by far the most reliable vehicle the company had ever produced, and the roomy engine space allows for full servicing of the engine to be completed without removing the whole engine. As with the 308 the Ferrari 328 came in both targa and coupe styles, however despite this the vehicle did not sell well in the US due to the new tax on vehicles that consume a lot of fuel.
Many applauded Ferrari on their design of the 328, after all the 308 had survived for so many years with so few changes so why fix something that was not broken? Obviously the styling was modernised somewhat and the company allowed themselves to make a small number of aesthetic changes but nothing too dramatic was introduced. One thing that Ferrari did do to make the vehicle more competitive was to introduce more options such as air conditioning and metallic paint in order to make the 328 easier to live with and drive every day should you wish to do so. ABS brakes were also introduced as an option later in the vehicles life, however as one might expect things such as the powerful engine, independent wishbone suspensions and hydraulic shocks all came as standard, as did the front and rear anti roll bars. The classic Ferrari V8 fitted to the 328 featured an increased capacity to 3185 cc allowing it to output 270 hp, and it also featured a full electronic ignition, something of a luxury at the time.
