Ferrari 166 Heavy Duty Waterproof Car Covers
The Ferrari 166 was a natural progression from the companies existing 125 S racing vehicle and it was designed to be equally at home both competing in major championships and being driven every day by regular drivers. The design of the Ferrari 166 was based around the Aurelio Lampredi tube frame that was made so popular and became so successful with the 125, and the Ferrari 166 also shared a double wishbone and live axle suspension with its pure racing cousin. Although it possessed ample performance and sterling handling the Ferrari 166 was something of a limited edition with only 39 ever being produced between the years of 1948 and 1950.
The more successful and mainstream 195 S was its replacement, despite this the Ferrari 166 is held up as something of an automotive milestone and a stunning design thanks to the careful eye and creative flair of Carlo Anderloni, Ferrari's chief stylist at the time. With coachbuilder Carrozzeria Allemano providing helpful expertise and Giocchino Colombo crafting the 2.0L V12 engine the car was sure to be a thoroughbred. Of the Ferrari 166 that were finished nine were spiders and three were sports models, and one of the oldest Ferrari's still in existence today is VIN#002C Ferrari 166 Spider Corsa. Despite being a hybrid fusion of road car and race car the Ferrari 166 took victory at the Mille Miglia in 1948 and 1949 and it also took victory at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1949. The 166 also went on to win the Spa 24 hours for Ferrari.
