The latest version of the ever popular and majestic Porsche 911 is the 997, a model that commenced production back in 2004. Since it was first introduced it has consistently beaten off competition to become the most successful version of the 911 to date, cementing the reputation of the Porsche 997 as a classic in the making. The Porsche 997 is an obvious evolution of the earlier 996 however it breaks new ground in terms of styling and aesthetics, standing apart from its predecessors with sleek, smooth lines that really make a bold statement whilst retaining much of those classic touches that make the 911 the car we all know and love.
Initially Porsche decided to produce two different coupe versions of the 997, the Carerra and Carerra S. By late 2006 Porsche had noted how well the 997 was selling so introduced the GR3 and Turbo versions to critical acclaim from car lovers worldwide. The GT2 version of the Porsche 997 was introduced in 2007 and it boasts 520 bhp and a top speed of 204 mph, and of course that classic styling that will turn heads no matter where you are! The targa top was also reintroduced with both the Targa 4 and Targa 4S versions of the Porsche 997 selling exceptionally well.When the turbo version was introduced to the Porsche lineup in 2006 both the styling of the vehicle and the engine were changed. The front layout of the 997 was modified and the new engine was developed from the 964 and has a 3.6 litre capacity. It develops 480 bhp and can hit 193 mph without breaking into a sweat. A Turbo Cabriolet version of the Porsche 997 is also available, and it is also one of the fastest convertible sports cars in existence with performance being almost identical to the hard top Turbo Coupe.
