BentleyTSeries1.jpgThe Bentley T-Series of vehicles are re-badged and slightly modified versions of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The coachwork for the Bentley T-Series comes from James Young and Mulliner Park Ward, and it was offered as both a four or two door saloon vehicle. In 1967 Bentley offered a convertible version of the T-Series vehicles with additional coachwork completed by Mulliner Park Ward, it featured a custom designed powered hood. The Front grille is the major differentiating feature between the Bentley T-Series and the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, the Bentley T-Series was also £50 cheaper when the list prices of the vehicles were compared.

It is understood that those who opted for the Bentley T-Series over the twin vehicle from Rolls Royce were seeking a more understated vehicle that was slightly more subtle. Many have commented that the design of the Bentley T-Series is more pleasing than that of the Rollse Royce, mostly due to the lower bonnet and different radiator shell shaping and the inclusion of more rounded and curved edges. Like all Bentley vehicles the T-Series featured lots as standard in order to underline the luxurious nature of the vehicle, things such as electric windows and powered front seats were standard on the T1, as was air conditioning on the T2 version.

The T1 itself was offered for sale between 1965 and 1977 and the T2 from 1977 to 1980. The T-Series from Bentley has been an enduring design that has lasted fifteen years and it holds a special place in the hearts of many motoring enthusiasts. Top Gear presenter James May used to own a T2, he donated it in 2007 but it did feature in one episode of the series. The Bentley T-Series has also made a number of appearences in television serials and films, helping to cement the companies identity and transform the brands image.
