astonmartinvanquish1.jpgThe Aston Martin Vanquish is one of the most famous of the new vehicles from the company and from 2001 to 2007 served as the Aston Martin flagship car. Sales of the Vanquish gathered pace after it featured heavily in the James Bond film Die Another Day and it proved one of the most popular top end vehicles the company has produced until it was replaced by the DBS in 2007.

The Vanquish followed in the footsteps of the Project Vantage concept car that was shown by Aston Martin at the North American International Auto Show in 1998, and just a few short years later the Vanquish was unveiled to the public and press. It was so successful that it remained relatively unchanged, the only revision came in 2005 when Aston Martin released a new S model that featured a tuned engine for more power, a number of slight aesthetic changes and new wheels, and as an optional extra one could purchase a sports package that featured stiffer suspension, steering and improved brakes.

When the Vanquish was reaching the end of its life Aston Martin decided to mark the event by introducing a very rare limited edition ultimate version that was coloured in black and featured an upgraded interior and a number of personalised touches. It was also offered with a manual gearbox, something applauded by fans as the only real acknowledged weak link of the Aston Martin Vanquish was the clutch-less paddle shift gearbox. The Aston Martin Vanquish is considered the third best film car ever, trailing only the Italian Job Minis and KITT from Knight Rider. The engine that powered the Vanquish remained relatively unchanged through it's life, the 5.9 litre V12 produced 460 bhp (520 bhp in the S model).
