astonmartinvanquish1.jpgThe Aston Martin Vanquish is now clearly one of the most famous vehicles on the road, largely due to a boost in sales thanks to a major appearance in the James Bond film Die Another Day where the Vanquish does battle with a rival vehicle. It has proved to be one of the most popular vehicles ever produced by Aston Martin and was the flagship vehicle for the company from 2001 until 2007 when it was discontinued to be replaced by the new DBS. If there is such a thing as a modern classic then the Aston Martin Vanquish most certainly fits the bill.

The Aston Martin Vanquish takes its origins from the concept Protect Vantage vehicle that the company demonstrated in the
North American International Auto Show in 1998. This served as the keystone from the Vanquish project and the new vehicle was unveiled by Aston Martin to critical acclaim from many corners of the industry. The only other model of Vanquish that was offered by Aston Martin was the S version that featured a tuned engine and a number of slight aesthetic differences and changes to the engineering of the vehicle to address some concerns raised by owners and slightly modernise the vehicle. A sports package was also made available for those that wished to firm up the ride and improve the brakes and steering even further.

A rare limited edition version of the Vanquish was offered for sale by Aston Martin as the vehicle began to reach its discontinuation date. This ultimate edition featured a unique black shade paint scheme, a luxurious highly refined interior and a variety of personal customisations unique to this version. A manual gearbox was also offered after many complained about the lack of responsiveness of the paddle-shift gearbox in both the Aston Martin Vanquish and the S version.
Throughout it's life the Vanquish was powered by a relatively similar engine that was not changed until the S version was released, initially the 5.9 litre V12 produced 460 bhp however the S model tuned this to 520 bhp.
