astonmartindb91.jpgThe Aston Martin DB9 was first released in 2004 and has come to be something of a modern classic that will certainly enter the annals of motoring history. It has been one of the best vehicles produced by Aston Martin to date replacing the DB7 and from launch was packed with the latest technological innovations. The DB9 was also the first Aston Martin to be produced at their new facility in Gaydon. The DB9 has been noted for its particularly stunning design that sets it apart from other luxurious grand tourers. Aston Martin produced both a DB9 coupe and a Volante version that were both powered by a 6.0 litre V12 producing 470 bhp.

In an effort to signify a major design shift Aston Martin chose to skip the DB8 name and go straight to DB9, such was the radical difference between the Aston Martin DB9 and the DB7. The company also took the major step of increasing the amount of production so that they could rival other companies such as Ferrari with their F430 and Porsche with their 911 Turbo. The DB9 is set to see Aston Martin will into the 21st century and the addition of a "sports pack" in 2006 allowed owners to tweak their vehicles to their hearts content, making them sportier and more lively when cornering.

Aston Martin made the announcement in 2008 that they would be tweaking the visual look of the DB9 along with some engine modifications in order to bring the vehicle more in line with their DBS vehicle. These changes include altering the centre console and adding an "emotional control unit" that starts the vehicle in lieu of a traditional method. The Aston Martin DB9 has proved popular in racing, Prodrive have created the DBR9 racing only version that took victory in 2005 at the 12 Hours of Sebring race. From this vehicle the DBRS9 vehicle was developed to take part in GT3 class events.
