Whilst the Aston Martin DB6 looks initially very similar to the DB5 there were a number of significant changes that separated the two vehicles, and we are pleased to be able to offer car covers for this unique vehicle. Aston Martin deliberately developed the DB6 to be a much more luxurious alternative to the DB5, so be sure to protect your purchase with one of our car covers. It was also the first vehicle to make use of a number of new technologies utilised in the design and development phase such as wind tunnel testing making it unique in looks. Incidentally wind tunnel testing proved invaluable on the Aston Martin DB6 as it revealed the fact that the rear of the vehicle lifted under high speeds, and more importantly helped the problem to be fixed.  These new technologies ushered in a new era of car design, and from 1965 to 1970 the Aston Martin DB6 was one of the most beautiful and luxurious vehicles in mainstream production on the roads, and our car covers will ensure that it stays just as beautiful as the day it was purchased. With all of the problems with the design worked out the first vehicle to be produced solely by Aston Martin with no outside assistance from any other companies was an exceptional success. The 1965 London Motor Show received the new vehicle with open arms and Aston Martin sold the DB6 largely by highlighting that although it looked similar to the DB5 it was indeed a very different vehicle, and changes such as raising the roof line and lengthening the body allowed for more room inside whilst power steering and air conditioning made the vehicle more comfortable for passengers and drivers alike. Aston Martin offered the DB6 with a choice of a three speed automatic gearbox or five speed manual, both of which we provide car covers for.
One of the main changes that separated the Aston Martin DB6 from its older sibling was the construction technique used in the manufacturing of the car body, it was developed with the newer body-on-frame technique making it stronger and more rigid than what was previously available. The straight six engine was capable of outputting 282 bhp and later a Vantage version of the DB6 was produced that could output 325 bhp. A convertible version was also developed and this was the first time Aston Martin used the Volante name to signify a convertible vehicle.
