Aston Martin DB 2 Heavyduty Waterproof Car Covers

1950 was the year of the Aston Martin DB2, and although it only had a relatively short production run (it ended in 1953) it was a huge leap forward when compared side by side with the DB1 due to the rapidly advancing technology and new engineering and manufacturing techniques that had been invented. The Aston Martin DB2 was a far greater commercial success compared to the DB1 and the new, larger 2.6 litre engine allowed it to reach far higher top speeds. The new vehicle also included a whole host of other modifications and improvements.

The vehicle was revealed by Aston Martin at the 1950 New York Auto Show and was an immediate success with lots of orders flooding in immediately. Despite these instant sales the company opted to keep the next three DB2 vehicles to come off the production line back to be modified for racing. These three cars were entered in the Le Man's 24 Hour Rally in 1950 and took first and second in two different classes, gaining Aston Martin a large amount of fame and recognition and catapulting the company and the DB2 into the limelight.

The Aston Martin DB2 proved so sucessful that it actually funded the development of the DB3 that was just a racing car and was never offered for public sale. The Aston Martin DB2 also marks something of an iconic moment for motor enthusiasts when the company first fitted the vehicle with their trademark grille that has become a unique feature of the vehicles produces by the company. The Aston Martin DB2 was capable of a top speed of 116 mph thanks to its engine that produced 105 bhp. This was later increased to 125 bhp when the Vantage model was released by Aston Martin. 411 DB2 cars were produced in total making this vehicle an exceptional success that funded future generations of cars from Aston Martin.
